The Texas regional circle of the ASBA has grown significantly since its founding in 2022 by Christine Fashek and Harper Quill as the Central Texas Botanical Artists. What began as a small group of dedicated artists has expanded across the state and, in 2026, adopted the name Lone Star Botanical Artists (LSBA) to better represent Texas’s broad geography and botanical art community. Four years later, to expand its outreach efforts, the group successfully organized two exhibitions both in 2026.  

LSBA’s current exhibition, "Beyond the Petal: Texas Native Plants and Their Pollinators", opened on June 20, 2026, in the Fine Art Gallery at the Historic Old Bakery & Emporium in Austin, Texas. The exhibition was warmly received, drawing an excellent turnout at the opening art reception. Featuring 41 botanical illustrations by 11 members, it explores the relationships between Texas native plants and their pollinators and remains on view through August 8, 2026.

The reception included a presentation by Kyle Cheesborough, Director of Gardens and Collections at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center, who shared insights into pollinators, highlighting the living connections with our Texas native plants. His remarks provided a meaningful framework for understanding the exhibition, as the featured artists similarly explore themes of connection, and coexistence of pollinators through their botanical work.
