ASBA’s 27th Annual International will appear at the Society of Illustrators, a first-time venue for ASBA. The Society was founded in 1901 and is the oldest nonprofit organization dedicated to the art of illustration in America. Its home is a historic 1875 five-story townhouse on E. 63rd Street in New York. The Society’s Permanent Collection includes over 2,500 works by such legendary artists as Norman Rockwell, Howard Pyle, N.C. Wyeth, and Rockwell Kent. Its Museum of Illustration was established in 1981 and offers themed exhibitions, educational programs, and juried competitions. The exhibition of original botanical artworks will hang in the Society’s third floor Garden Gallery.
A selection jury of Steven Compton, Patricia Jonas, Abigail Lashbrook, and Jeanne Reiner met in May and chose 47 artworks out of 195 submissions.
