Hosta
Hosta cv.
Often the artist chooses the subject of the future picture carefully and after considerable thought. But sometimes - the flower chooses you. That is exactly what happened with this "Hosta" work. I walked through my garden, making plants pictures, came across my several hosts plants and suddenly clearly realized that I need to draw them. For a long time, I made sketches, selected a palette and searched for a composition. I wanted the work to be concise and restrained, so I skipped the leaves in my drawing.
The flowers reminded me of a human’s life. The buds represent the birth of life and childhood. They grow up, become stronger and open up, timidly at first, and then more confidently. Over time, the flower loses its color, becoming less bright and begins to fade, growing old. But it is a beautiful aging, which continues to fascinate and attract views.
For this work, I used a limited color palette. Discovered a combination of green shades and perylene violet. That's what formed the basis of the stems and dry parts.
