Cabernet grape
Vitis vinifera
This grapevine grows along the West wall of my garden.
I love the beautiful variations of color that can be found on one plant: the bright greens of the new leaves, the rich, rusty greens of the older leaves, the deep purple of the grapes and the rustic texture of the branches.
For a few days, I had to compete with a squirrel for the only grape cluster on the vine. We were both interested in it for different reasons. As soon as it was ripe for painting or eating, she won, and I had to finish painting the grapes from my reference photos.
