It’s all about the stems…
One of the best events of autumn is our annual trip to Gordon Skagit Farms. I go with two artist friends and we spend many happy hours searching through piles of pumpkins and gourds, looking for that perfect painting subject. While most of the squashes have unique shapes, nice warts and fantastic patterns, for me, it’s all about the stems. Finding good “stemmage” is a eureka moment. Some years it just doesn’t happen and I have to resort to gluing the “right” stem on the “right” gourd…
