Anemone

Anemone coronaria

I chose the subject because I have been addicted to painting white subjects for the last three years and I love anemones. I bought a bulb in a pot and raised it. These flower petals were truly white with a yellow-green tint, very thin and delicate like garlic skin.

My biggest challenge with this work was the strategic composition. I kept watching the flowers every day to capture the precious moment of their glowing stages and added them one by one, using a lot of tracing paper. Finally I placed some leaves in the most effective position to enhance the whiteness of the flowers without drawing their white outlines. I hope that people will notice the composition and the subtle and varied color of the shadows.

In the future, I would like to be a master of painting white on white!
