Susan Tomlinson is an Associate Professor in the Honors College at Texas Tech 

University, where she has been the recipient of numerous teaching awards. She is 

the author of a book on nature journaling (How to Keep a Naturalist’s Notebook) and 

is currently working on a book under contract for botanical paintings featuring

cotton.

Her work is in the Hunt Institute for Botanical Documentation, and in 2022 and 2025 she was 

awarded an RHS Silver Gilt and RHS Gold, respectively, for her cotton boll series. Her work was also featured on 

the June 2018 cover of The Botanical Artist.
