Since childhood Gilly Shaeffer has been paintng and drawing. In 1994 deeply inspired by the beauty
in nature she began studying botanical art.
Gilly has received the Watercolor Certificate from master botanical instructor, Anne Marie Evans, of the New York Botanical Gardens,
New York and the Chelsea Physic Garden, London.
Gilly has been showing her work in juried international exhibitions since 2000. Gilly is a founding member and past president of the Botanical Artists
Guild of Southern California. Her work is included as part of the permanent part of the botanical art collection at the Hunt Institute of Botanical Documentation
at the Carnegie Mellon University and in private collections around the United States.
Gilly recently taught Botanical Illustration and Watercolor Techniques Online for the Otis College of Art and Design in Los Angeles.
