Kathy is a botanical artist living in the Piedmont region of North Carolina. Originally from the Los Angeles area, she holds a Masters Degree in Illustration and Design. She has freelanced as a magazine illustrator for several years while teaching illustration and drawing and painting courses at community and university colleges in California. Since moving east she has continued teaching from Pre Kindergarten to 5th Grade art and as a nature educator. She found botanical art to be her passion for the last two decades and has taught her skills in the field at the North Carolina Botanical Garden at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill since 2012. She has also taught classes and workshops through regional art centers. Kathy has exhibited locally and internationally with the Guild of Natural Science Illustrators, in the Birds in Art International Exhibition (Woodson Art Museum), and in several ASBA exhibitions including the Abundant Future and the Annual International Exhibitions where she was awarded the Brooklyn Botanical Garden Drawing Award in 2022.
