A 40-year educational publishing professional, botanical artist, educator, and children's book author, Deborah Kopka creates botanical images that reflect the peace and healing of the natural world.
Deborah studied botanical illustration in England with Anne-Marie Evans, MBE, and editorial illustration at Otis College of At and Design in Los Angeles. She was awarded a Botanical Art Diploma, with Distinction, from London Art College in the United Kingdom.
She has taught botanical illustration in university, community college, botanical garden, and art museum continuing education programs that have included the Matthaei Botanical Gardens and Nichols Arboretum at the University of Michigan, Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens (Pittsburgh), Bowling Green State University, and the internationally recognized Toledo Museum of Art School of Art and Design.
Deborah lives with her husband in Perrysburg, Ohio, where she paints the flora of the gardens and farmland that surround her home and studio. She is a member of the American Society of Botanical Artists, the Guild of Natural Science Illustrators, the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators, and the Ohio Arts Council.
