About this event
Botanical Art Techniques in Action
ASBA introduces the fourth round of four episodes in a series of live-action tutorials based on Botanical Art Techniques, A Comprehensive Guide. Tutors demonstrate their topics from the book with new subjects and expand on those lessons. The one-hour sessions allow 45 minutes of demonstration, and 15 minutes for a Q & A. Sessions can be viewed live or on demand for the week following live airing.
Painting Leaves in Watercolor on Vellum with Akiko Enokido
In this session, we will explore various techniques for using watercolor on vellum, with leaves as our subject. We will begin by carefully observing the leaves, followed by selecting and applying colors. Akiko will share how she successfully captures a leaf's varied characteristics, using drybrush hues and values to convey not only the lifelike details but its surface texture and three-dimensionality. Additionally, she will introduce several types of vellum, allowing you to learn about their unique features and take full advantage of the special qualities that vellum offers.
